Researcher Alexandros Spiliotis is awarded the «Miltiadis Karatzis Award 2021»
The honorary “Miltiadis Karatzis Award 2021” was recently granted by Mr. Antonis Karatzis, President of The Karatzis S.A Group, to Mr. Alexandros Splitiotis, a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Electronic Structure and Lasers, Research Technology Institute, on Monday, November 15th, 2021.
The event, held at the Kastelaki Hall, was inaugurated by Mr. Zacharias Karatarakis, President of the FORTH Friends Association, who, after thanking all the contributors and sponsors to the project, discussed all the great achievements FORTH has made around the world. This was followed by a speech titled “Brain: The Spontaneous Mirror of the World” from Dr. George Papadopoulos, the Emeritus Professor of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, neuroscience researcher and author.
At the end of the evening, Mr. Antonis Karatzis proceeded to award the “Miltiadis Karatzis Award 2021” to Mr. Alexandros Spiliotis, congratulating him for his great contributions to science. Mr. Karatzis stated: “I congratulate the scientist and researcher Alexandros Spiliotis for his passion and dedication to the scientific community. On behalf of the entire team of the Karatzis group, we wish him success in all his goals, and we will be by his side in every such effort, supporting research and innovation in science."
In order to select this year’s awardee, a special seven-member committee was formed from the following: Nektarios Tavernarakis, President of FORTH; Eleftherios Oikonomou, Emeritus Professor of the University of Crete; Eleftherios Zouros, Emeritus Professor of the University of Crete, Elias Kouvelas, Emeritus Professor of the University of Patras; Georgios Kontakis, Rector of the University of Crete; Nikolaos Katsarakis, Rector of the Mediterranean University; and Zacharias Karatarakis, President of the Friends Association of FORTH.
